IMATU Women’s Day Celebration – eThekwini Region

On Friday, 22 August 2025, the IMATU eThekwini Region hosted a powerful and uplifting Women’s Day Celebration, which brought together shop stewards, staff members, and partners for a day of reflection, inspiration, and joy.

This year, Women’s Month carried an even deeper significance for IMATU. On 1 August 2025, history was made when Ms Queen Mbatha became the first woman President of IMATU. And how fitting that we celebrated this momentous occasion in her home Region of eThekwini, where her leadership journey began more than two decades ago.

The programme featured dynamic speakers from both IMATU and the eThekwini Municipality, whose messages of support and encouragement highlighted the courage, leadership, and resilience of women in the workplace and beyond.

Speeches were insightful, inspiring and motivating, reminding us of the role of women in shaping the future of our Union, our municipalities, and our country.

The day was filled with energy, celebration, entertainment, and fun, honouring the footsteps of the women who came before us while also looking ahead to the future of women in leadership.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all who attended and contributed to making this event a resounding success.
