Increase in EPWP Minimum Wages & Learnership Allowances
The Minister of Employment and Labour has adjusted the schedules to the National Minimum Wage Act to increase national minimum wages including those of EPWP workers as well as learnership allowances.
In terms of the new schedule 1 section 1 (2) (c), EPWP minimum wages are increased by 9.56% from R12.75 to R13.97 per hour.
Learnership allowances increase in terms of the new table set out in schedule 2.
The increases take effect on 1 March 2023.
This revised minimum wage refers to a wage rate per hour performed by EPWP workers across all spheres of government, i.e. National, Provincial and Municipal level.
