Update on Salary and Wage Negotiations (Conciliator’s Recommendation / Advisory Award)
The third round of the Conciliation proceedings in the Wage Negotiations dispute held on 16 – 17 August 2021, has concluded.
The Conciliator, Mr Ndaba heard the positions of all Parties to the dispute, and has undertaken to issue a Conciliator’s recommendation or possibly an Advisory Award on an expedited basis.
In terms of Section 135 (3)(c) of the Labour Relations Act, the Conciliator may issue a recommendation which may be in the form of an Advisory Award.
The Parties to the dispute agreed that the Conciliator may follow this option.
The Conciliator’s recommendation or Advisory Award will set out terms for a possible settlement of the dispute and it is expected to be issued on 18th August 2021.
Parties will then be given a short period to respond and indicate whether they accept it or not.
