IMATU COMMENTS ON ILLEGAL PIKITUP STRIKE

The Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union (IMATU) members are not participating in the illegal industrial action currently taking place at Pikitup.

“We have advised our members that participation in the current industrial action is illegal and unprotected. While our members do report for work, we are becoming increasingly concerned by growing intimidation and violence. IMATU’s main concern will always be the safety of our members and the protection of their rights,” explained Johannesburg Regional Manager, Mark Gericke.

IMATU strongly rejects acts of violence, intimidation and the destruction of property.
