Regulations in development since 2013.
First version gazetted for public comment on 23 September 2016. Second version November 2017.
Final version gazetted on 22 September 2021.
Date of implementation 1 July 2022.
IMATU Participation: part of COGTA steering committee developing regulations since 2013. Substantial number of IMATU proposals accepted. Not negotiation – consultation process. Much of original version watered down in final.
Many of the provisions already exist in some municipalities – now standardised across the sector & have force of legislation.
