ATTENTION CITY OF CAPE TOWN EMPLOYEES - IMATU - Independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union

IMATU has learned that the City is not ready to implement the collectively agreed salary increases by the July payday.

IMATU IS NOT IN AGREEMENT WITH THE EMPLOYER THAT THEY HAVE ANY DISCRETION BUT TO IMPLEMENT THE AGREEMENT TO WHICH THEY ARE PARTY.

With the intervention of IMATU via the office of the Executive Mayor, the employer has agreed to call an urgent council meeting in the week of 31July 2013, and to run an extra payroll to ensure that the increase, with back pay, is implemented the following day.

We have informed the employer that IMATU views this matter as extremely important and we will not hesitate to take the necessary legal or other steps to force compliance.
